Sub-Division By-Laws


Our subdivision has restriction by-laws that are recorded with the County of Oakland, Michigan.  A copy of these by-laws are contained in the Westwood Directory and in the link provided below.

Friendly Reminders:

Garbage: Please remember, per Village guidelines, garbage should not be placed on the curb prior to 5 p.m. the day before garbage collection, and empty containers should be removed from the curb by 7 a.m. on the day following garbage collection.

Storage of boats, boat trailers and RVs is prohibited.  Please contact the Village for further information.

Regarding the installation of fences and sheds, homeowners are responsible for contacting the Architectural Committee for approval, which must be obtained prior to the Village issuing a permit. Please review the guidelines that have been established below if you are considering installing one of these structures. Any proposed deviation from these guidelines will be reviewed by the Architectural Committee on a case
bycase basis.  

 

Westwood Homeowners Association Shed Requirements

Shed shall comply with all Village of Beverly Hills requirements. Visit http://villagebeverlyhills.com/Guidelines_For_Addition_Of_Garage_%26_Sheds.html for details.  Also visit Village website for necessary permit applications.

Submit copy of plans to Westwood Homeowner’s Association Architectural Committee for approval signature. Copy of plans must also be signed by all adjoining lot owners signifying they have been notified of the plans before Architectural Committee approval signature can be given.

Shed shall not be placed in a front yard and shall be located in the rear of the home to eliminate front of property view.

The shed must be built of wood, brick and/or siding.  No aluminum, metal, pole buildings, or plastic composition construction are permitted. 

The shed maximum dimensions are not to exceed 10’ (W) x 10’ (L) floor area, 8’ (H) to rooftop.

The shed exterior color shall match the home at that same lot location. The shed shall have roof shingles that match the homeowner’s in material and color.  The shed roof shall be of gable design, not barn-style gambrel (agricultural) design.

Existing sheds in violation of these requirements shall be grandfathered-in.

 

Westwood Homeowners Association Fence Requirements

Fence shall be a decorative wrought-iron or aluminum wrought-iron style.  No chain-link fencing shall be permitted.  Existing fences in violation of this requirement shall be grandfathered-in. 

Fence shall be maintained in good condition.
